Zinfandel

Sno Road Winery Zinfandel

The two grape varietals that are the hardest to grow happen to be my favorites; Pinot Noirs and Zinfandels. Sno Road Winery in Echo Oregon happens to produce several delicious wines and one of my picks from there is their Zinfandel. I doubt their 2010 is still available unless you can purchase it out of their library but if it is any reflection to their present releases you can bet they are award winning. The 2010 had similar flavors as to an Amarone cause the winemaker produced it in the same fashion as they use to produce Amarone. The flavors are of dark berries, raspberry, licorice, black pepper and a hint of spice on the finish. Not only did I find this wine to be big, bold, a bit jammy, it also had a good level of acidity which balanced out the strong tannin structure en-turn giving it a long smooth finish. Without a doubt I rate this wine at 95 points as it is one of the best Zinfandels I have ever tasted.
